Can I use ring barking instead of plugging?

Experience and research show that ring barking does not work on root shooting trees such as Aspen, Poplar etc.Is it not enough to stubble fizz the stub away?

Is it not enough to stubble fizz the stub away?

On root shooting trees the root system continue to grow.
On stubble shooting trees such as Birch, Oak etc. stubble fizzing works well.

How do I apply the ECOPLUG to the tree/stubThe easiest method is to use a power drill and a common hammer.
Drill a 1.1/8” deep hole with a 1/2” wood drill bit, insert the plug and hammer the plug into the hole.

If I don’t have a 1/2” drill?Any well stocked hardware store will supply you with a drillbit.
A special drill bit with a drill stop at the correct depth can be ordered from ECOPLUG.

How many ECOPLUGS should be used?

A rule of thumb is to calculate the tree diameter divided by 1,5.
For example: Diameter 11” divided by 1.5 = 7. Apply 7 plugs evenly spaced.

Where should the ECOPLUG be applied?

From the side: evenly applied with a 3 1/2” spacing around the tree.
Apply one ECOPLUG on visible roots.

From above: apply close to the bark where the sap is the stongest to carry the active ingredient.
Same number of ECOPLUGS.

When should I apply ECOPLUG?The great benefit to using ECOPLUG is that it can be applied any time of the year.
When the tree starts to grow in the spring the product will have effect even if applied during the winter.

How is it possible to kill the entire root system? The active ingredient of the ECOPLUG has the capacity to be carried to the growth piont of the tree.
Correctly applied it will reach the entire root system to the end to prevent regrowth.

Does the stub decompose quicker when using ECOPLUG?Yes, generally speaking the stump decoposing time will be cut in half.

How long after the tree is cut can ECOPLUG be applied? It is importand that ECOPLUG is applied in living trees.
If applied on a stump from above, within 2 months.
If it’s been more than 2 months since the logging, check with an axe or drill a hole to check for fresh wood with moist and fresh sap where the tree is still alive.

How long will it be before the tree dies?

During the growth season 4-6 weeks.
If applied during winter 4-6 weeks after growth season.

What is the active ingredient in ECOPLUG?

Ecoplug contains a granulate Glyphosate product same as in RoundUp Max.

Can anybody use the ECOPLUG?

Yes!
It’s easy to apply and the active substance does not come in contact with you as long as the Ecoplug is handled correctly.

Is there any danger to household pets?

No!
The active ingredient have no adverse effect on animals or humans if handled correctly.

I have kids in my garden, can I use ECOPLUG?

Yes! ECOPLUG is sealed and encapsulated.
After it is hammered into the tree it is completely sealed and virtually impossible to get out of the tree.

Should not such effectivness be poisionous?

No!
The Glyphosate in ECOPLUG is poisionous for green plants with aminoacid formation, something that does not exist in humans or animals.

Is ECOPLUG degradable?

The content degrades by the micro organisms to natural material such as carbon dioxide, nitrates, phosphorus and water.

Can ECOPLUG escape into the water if it is applied in a tree nearby?

The active ingredient is not released until the tree dies.
If the tree stands in or near water it will degrade by micro organisms into its constituents with or without oxygen.

Does ECOPLUG work on Fir and Pine?

ECOPLUG works in the same way with the difference that if the tree is cut below the lowest bransch there will be no regrowth and thus no need for ECOPLUG.
